PURPOSE:To produce granular polyarylene sulfide having high fluidity and strength, and specific average particle diameter, etc., by preparing a slurry composed of powdery polyarylene sulfide and an aqueous solution containing a polyelectrolyte, adding the slurry dropwise to a specific aqueous solution, and drying the product. CONSTITUTION:A slurry having a viscosity of 500-30,000 and composed of (A) an aqueous solution containing 0.3-3% polyelectrolyte (e.g. polyacrylic acid) having a viscosity of 50-1,000cps at 25 deg.C as a 1% aqueous solution and (B) a powdery polyarylene sulfide, is added dropwise to an aqueous solution containing an electrolyte (e.g. alkaline earth metal) capable of making the above polyelectrolyte insoluble in water, and the product is dried to obtain granular polyarylene sulfide having an average perticle diameter of 0.3-10mm, a bulk density of 0.3-0.5g/cm<3>, an angle of repose of 30-50 deg., and a powder content of <=5%. |
