METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR RECYCLING REMNANTS OF PLASTIC-COATED CABLES

The cable remnants are loaded into a bath (15) which contains a liquid swelling agent, which makes the plastic parts swell and become brittle. After the swelling operation, the cable remnants are fed to a washing station (25) and sprayed with strong jets from spray nozzles (32'), the plastic sheathings of the cable remnants being made to crumble by the pressure of the jets. The plastic parts (33) are separated from the metal parts (38) by a separating device (31). The method has the advantage that no chemical reaction takes place in the metal parts or in the plastic parts and no harmful waste gases are produced.
