The present invention relates to a portable motorised instrument equipped with a transmission mechanism comprising a gear change device 123, 112, 113 and a clutch system 140 interposed in series between a motor member 118 and a tool holder member 150. According to the invention, the transmission mechanism comprises two parallel shafts 110, 130 each rotationally guided in a pair of support bearings 111, 114; 131, 132, a sleeve 120 free to rotate on a first shaft 130, the sleeve 120 carrying at least two pinions 125, 126 of the gear change device adapted so as to mesh alternately with two other pinions 112, 113 carried by the second shaft. The plates 141, 142 of the clutch system are rotationally integral, one with the sleeve and the other with the first shaft, free in relative sliding and stressed in coming together. <IMAGE>
