The power/steering axle according to the invention comprises, in the vicinity of each of its ends, a banjo bowl 1, a steering pivot 2 comprising a body 3 on which a lower journal 4 and an upper journal 5 are mounted coaxially, roller-contact bearings 6, 8 interposed between the banjo bowl and each of the journals, and means for maintaining a friction torque between the banjo bowl and the steering pivot. It is essentially characterised in that the means provided for maintaining friction torque consist of two elements 14, 15 integral one with the banjo bowl 1 and the other with the body 3 of the steering pivot 2, these two elements being in contact by means of surfaces having a low coefficient of friction between them. The roller-contact bearing 6 is a conical roller bearing, whereas the roller-contact bearing 8 is swivel joint double row ball bearing. So as to maintain a low residual torque on the steering pivots whilst avoiding the formation of wheel wobble. <IMAGE> |
