<p>PURPOSE:To treat stably waste water by measuring the volume of the sludge in an aeration tank after being left standing for a specified time by light transmittance, measuring the concn. of sludge in the aeration tank by a light scattering system and maintaining the relation between both values in the specified range. CONSTITUTION:The volume of sludge in an aeration tank 2 which is partly sampled from the aeration tank 2 and left standing for 30min is measured by the light transmittance in a measuring tank 6, the concn. of sludge in the aeration tank is simultaneously measured by an MLSS meter for measuring by a light scattering method and the relation between both values is maintained in the specified range in a matching device 10. Consequently, the conditions of sludge can be accurately confirmed, the bulking and nitrating phenomena can be previously checked and further the method is capable of highly contributing to the stable treatment of waste water by activated sludge.</p> |
