PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent failure and damage of an image sensor, provided in a document feeder, due to impact when opening and closing the document feeder.SOLUTION: An image reader 2 includes a body 22 and a document feeder 21. The document feeder 21 includes an image sensor 216 and a support 217. An impact absorption member 5 is provided at a first position T on a first line segment, connecting the first end point S and second end point U on the supported surface 216A of the image sensor 216, and parallel with the main scanning direction. The first position T is a position where the sum of kinetic energy of the image sensor 216 from the first end point S to the first position T when the document feeder 21 is opened and closed is equal to the sum of kinetic energy of the image sensor 216 from the first position T to the second end point U when the document feeder 21 is opened and closed. |
