Described are cuprophthalocyanine type compounds represented by formula [1] in the form of the free acid

(wherein D is a cuprophthalocyanine radical; B is an alkyene group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms or a phenylene group which may have one or two carboxyl group(s) or sulfonic acid group(s) as a substituent(s); R is a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy-lower alkyl group; X is a carboxyl group or a carbamoyl group and combines with the 3- or 4-position of the pyridine ring; Iis 1, 2 or 3; m is 0, 1 or 2; n is 1 or 2; and the sum of I, m and n is 2, 3 or 4) as well as a method for dyeing cellulosic fiber materials using the said compounds.
