PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure of a molten steel to a casting mold by applying ultrasonic oscillations to the meniscus part of the mold where the thicknesses is different at the adequate width of the inside wall of the mold thereby generating the strong oscillations in the vertical direction of the wall surface of the mold. CONSTITUTION:The part 2 which has the width (h) of integer times of half the wavelength of the continued symmetrical wave mode of the plate wave propagating in the inside wall and has the different thickness is provided to the outside circumference on the inside wall in the meniscus part of the continuous casting mold 1 and a back plate is provided to the outside of the inside wall to constitute the water-cooled casting mold. Oscillators 3-1, 3-2... are provided to the above-mentioned part 2 having the different thickness to apply the ultrasonic oscillations to the part 2. Then the asymetrical wave mode of the plate wave generates resonance at the part 2 and generates the strong oscillation displacement at about >=10mu in the direction perpendicular to the wall surface of the mold. The seizure of the molten steel to the inside wall of the casting mold is thus prevented. |
