PURPOSE:To enhance printing quality and correction quality, by simple constitution so that the heat generating quantity of the heat generating resistor element of a thermal head at the time of correction is made large by output voltage higher than that at the time of printing or by a current supply time longer than that at that time. CONSTITUTION:When input data is correction data, a signal is emitted to a voltage control part 10 and a transistor 10d is turned ON to select the output voltage V2 of a correction voltage control part 10b. Because of V2>V1 (output voltage of a printing voltage control part 10a), the voltage applied to the heat generating resistor element 1 of a thermal head 2 comes to V2. Next, a signal is outputted to a mechanism driving part 8 to drive a mechanism part 9 and a correction ribbon is selected to move a carriage 17 to the position of a character to be corrected to allow the carriage 17 to oppose to the thermal head 2 through the correction ribbon 21. Next, a pattern having the same character shape as the character to be corrected or an entire surface solid pattern is formed for the purpose of correction and heat is applied to the correction ribbon 21 on the basis of this pattern by the heat generating resistor element 1 of the thermal head 2 to perform correction. |
