PURPOSE:To facilitate operation by making it unnecessary to send a command from the side of a host computer when performing test printing or the like, by a construction wherein a rotary switch for setting a printing color with priority over a host computer is connected to a CPU in a color printer. CONSTITUTION:The rotary switch 4 for determining a printing color with priority over a command from the host computer is divided into 10 parts 0-9, and output terminals 7 thereof comprise 1-4-terminals 9 other than a common terminal 8. The common terminal 8 and the terminals 9 are connected to a resistance attenuator 10, and are connected to a color printer CPU 12 through an I/O port 11. When a power source is thrown in, initialization is performed, and the condition of the rotary switch 4 is read. A printing color flag is set ON according to the setting of a color by the switch 4, thereafter the printing color flag is loaded, and a color ribbon is shifted, thereby printing. Accordingly, the printing color can be determined on the color printer side without need to connect the color printer to a host computer. |
