Prepn. of optically active polyamide of formula (I) or (II). (where A is residue derived from prim. or secondary diamine by removing two active H from 2-amino gp). comprises ting coumarin dimer mixt. comprising two optical isomers of formulae (III) and (IV) with prim. or sec. diamine.S ADVANTAGE : Polyamide differs from the corresponding racemic mixt. in optical properties, solubility and thermal properties. The polyamide contains higly reactive phenol and its optical activity is derived from cyclobutane rinq, so that it is usable for the asymmetric syntheses and optical resolutions as such or in the form of phenolic deriv. or partially ring opened deriv. of cyclobutane rinq.
