The above-described apparatus is designed to eliminate oxygen from water, in particular in closed circuits such as heating circuits, in order to prevent corrosion in the pipe-lines and boiler, as well as the formation of magnetic sludge. For this purpose, the apparatus is provided with a first region (2, 3) containing a medium having a great affinity for oxygen and a second region (8, 9, 10) separated from the latter by a liquid-tight but gas-permeable partition wall (4, 7). This second region is connected into the pipe-line through which the liquid to be treated is conveyed.
