At least part of the mould comprises a sintered porous open cell material. The mould cavity is connected to an under or over pressure source to evacuate (or pressurise) the cavity. Natural and synthetic polymers can be used. The method can be used with either vacuum forming or injection moulding. - The porous mould has an outer cover which is connected via hole to the evacuation or pressurisation system. On evacuation a PVC film is sucked from a position across top of mould to fit the mould shape. When the film solidifies, the space between the cover and the mould is pressurised. The increased pressure is transferred to the cavity and the mould is opened. |
