The invention relates to an appliance for determining physicochemical characteristics of metal melts, especially of steel melts, which has a measuring head which can be plugged into a support tube, consists of a ceramic material, and in whose front an electrochemical cell, a contact electrode, and a thermoelement are provided as sensors, which are covered by a protective cap.
