A DC-powered electrical tool is proposed having a motor (1) which has a permanent magnet (2) and an armature (3), the armature (3) being connected to a voltage source (10) when the electrical tool is being operated, while in contrast the armature (3) is short-circuited by a changeover switch (11) when the tool is not being operated, which results in the motor (1) being braked. <IMAGE>
