Buckle for straps

A buckle for straps, in particular for load-securing systems, contains an attachment for the fixed end of the strap and a strap drum which can be actuated by a tensioning ratchet which tensions the strap by the winding principle and is in releasable engagement with a pawl. The tensioning ratchet contains a toothing which is mounted laterally on the strap drum and with which an engagement pawl, which is attached to the ratchet lever and is resiliently prestressed in the direction of the strap drum, can be operatively connected. The ratchet lever furthermore contains means which limit the torque which can be transmitted to the toothing when the ratchet lever is actuated. This takes place in that the engagement pawl is mounted so as to be displaceable tangentially to the strap drum and is prestressed resiliently in the tensioning direction tangentially to the strap drum.
