PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet printer capable of performing fast high-resolution printing by combining a photosensitive element and optical scan using a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:If a light beam L is directed to a photosensitive element 5 from a transparent support 5a side, an electric resistance of a part 5d exposed to light of a photoconductive layer 5 is reduced to be electroconductive. Accordingly, a negative charge is partially injected into an ink sheet 6 from a transparent electrode 5b through the part 5d. The negative charge injected into the ink sheet 6 generates an air insulation breakdown in a clearance 13 between the ink sheet 11 lined with an opposed electrode 10 and recording paper 11, being transferred to the recording paper 11. During this charge transition, ink impregnated in the ink sheet 6 is transformed into ink droplets 8a, adhering to the recording paper 11 in dot form. |
