PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head capable of modifying a pattern according to a variation in printed density, by providing a first heat generating part at split one-side electrode parts and providing a second heat generating part at the other-side electrode part. CONSTITUTION:This thermal head A comprises split one-side electrode parts 2a, 3a, 2b, 3b and other-side electrode parts 4a, 4b which are connected by heat generating resistors 1a, 1b. When a voltage is applied between the electrode parts 2a, 2b and the electrode parts 4a, 4b, heat generating parts 5a, 5b generate heat, whereas when a voltage is applied between the electrode parts 3a, 3b and the electrode parts 4a, 4b, heat generating parts 6a, 6b generate heat. Thus, print dots the area of circle marks (O) of which is varied according to the quantity of electric currents supplied can be obtained. When a voltage is applied between the electrode parts 2a, 3a, 2b, 3b and the electrode parts 4a, 4b and the thermal head is moved by the distance between the heat generating parts 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b and heat generating parts 7a, 7b,..., a print dot indicated by a dotted-line circle is interpolatively formed by the heat generating part 7a between the print dots indicated by solid-line circles which are formed by the heat generating parts 5a, 6a.
