The purpose of the present invention is to achieve, in an MRI apparatus, imaging for which almost no sound is produced not only for three-dimensional imaging but also for two-dimensional imaging without extending imaging time. The gradient field pulse of a pulse sequence in an MRI apparatus is a pulse adjusted using a basic waveform having a frequency distribution in which amplitude substantially decreases gradually as the frequency increases from zero, and is a waveform that changes smoothly and is concave up or down. Application time and amplitude thereof are adjusted so that almost no sound is produced. Thus, imaging that is capable with a conventional pulse sequence is achieved with little change in the conventional pulse sequence and with almost no sound being produced.
