The process consists in exciting a bulb 1 filled with gas 2 (neon, argon, hg, and the like) and of measuring the quantity of these gases in order that they may be ionised and may vibrate at a frequency in harmony with the gas to be treated 3 which will pass through it, the transmitting gas 2 and the treated gas 3 being isolated from one another by a tube 4 passing through the bulb 1. The ionisation of the gas can be obtained by starting with an alternating high voltage, an ultrahigh frequency source or a high electrostatic voltage emitted by a static emission block 5 powered by a generator circuit with Latour doublers 6. Since the gas obtained is unstable, it can be employed in sterilisation owing to its oxidising power or as a fuel in combination with other gases. <IMAGE>
