PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material free of sticking or adhesion of refuse and having high heat response characteristics, by providing a protective layer comprising a specified silicon compound on a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective layer comprising a silicone compound of general formula (1), wherein n is an integer of 5-15, is provided on a thermal color forming layer. The value of n in the formula is preferably 7-12. Such a compound ordinarily has a decomposition temperature of not less than 450 deg.C and a specific gravity of 1.3 (at 25 deg.C). The compound used in a particulate form preferably has an average particle diameter of 2-4mu, and if required, it is ground into a more finer form before use. It is preferable to use a binder in providing the protective layer. The binder is appropriately selected from, for example, binders used for producing the thermal color forming layer. The silicone compound is used in an amount of 5-70wt%, while the binder is used in an amount of 20-95wt%. In addition to these components, an ordinary filler or an ordinary surfactant may be used, as required. |
