<p>The invention relates to an alternating milking process involving all the animals in one milking parlour, in which process suction (160) is applied to the first teats of each animal (C) to draw its milk, and then said suction is removed from these first teats in order to massage them (163) while suction (171) is applied to the second teats of the animal (C). According to the invention, the total number of animals is divided into two groups and simultaneous suction is applied to the first teats of the animals (C) of the first group for an interval of time that is shifted with respect to the interval during which simultaneous suction is applied to the first teats of the animals (D) of the second group.
