PURPOSE:To enable the recording of a high sensitivity pit at a high speed by irradiation with semiconductive laser beam, by having a specific polymethylene compound and a polydiacetylene derivative contained in the recording layer of an optical recording medium in combination. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium having a recording layer 2 containing a polydiacetylene derivative and one or more of a polymethylene compound represented by general formula I or II is formed. Next, recording information is converted to an optical signal by a semiconductive laser beam through a control circuit to be formed into an image on the recording layer 2 of the optical recording medium. The polymethylene compound present at the image forming point (area) 3 absorbs this laser beam 4 to generate heat and the recording layer 2 of the image forming point 3 is melted to form a pit consisting of a recessed part 5. |
