Foot-actuated wheel brake for a vehicle comprising at least one wheel. It consists of a pivoting brake lever 12 which is arranged substantially along the longitudinal axis 11 of the vehicle and articulated on a transverse shaft 14 carried by the chassis 1 of the vehicle; this lever 12 is equipped, by means of a support 17, with a friction runner 18 capable of bearing on an outer cylindrical friction track 26 of the wheel 4. Application to skis with castors equipped with a slope and backslide-prevention brake. <IMAGE>
