The disclosed forced cooling device for friction brakes or clutches eliminates drag torques in friction disk sets (6, 10, 11, 12) which are oil-cooled by providing a reliable stopping of the cooling oil supply at the end of each braking operation. The braking pressure disk (13) comprises at its circumference pipe sections (22) which may be axially driven, designed like piston valves in the front wall (1) of the crank case. By bearing on the pressure springs (28) surrounding them, the pipe sections (22) reliably stop the oil supply sections (26) even in the case of machining or travel tolerances, as soon as the braking pressure disk (13) has come back close to the starting position. Due to these non-rotary pipe sections (22), the cooling oil reaches only during a braking operation, in predetermined quantities and independently of the rotational speed, an inner annular channel (7) acting as an oil retained space situated under the inner disk support (3) provided with radial oil passages (9) between the slots situated between the inner and outer disks (11, 12). The uniform oil retained pressure maintained in front of the oil passages (9) by means of the centrifugal forces during a braking operation makes it possible to obtain a uniform pressurization and speed on all surfaces. It is thus possible to obtain with such a device associated to a plurality of other embodiments of oil channels and sprinkled cooling surfaces a cooling and lubricating effect which increases the useful life of the apparatus with relatively small oil quantities and costs of production and materials substantially reduced.
|
