Device which fixes to a fixed support provided with a longitudinal slot and consists of a longitudinal profile with a straight side (1), one longitudinal edge of which is provided with at least one boss (2) or with a longitudinal rib intended to penetrate and to be retained in the slot of the fixed support. The longitudinal edge (6) opposite the edge provided with the boss (2) is bent so as to serve as a means for retaining the covering panel. The longitudinal edge can be bent at right angles and interrupted by spaced tabs (4) erected in the plane of the straight side (1) of the profile and each of which is provided with at least one boss (2) or with a longitudinal rib. Fixed to the intermediate part of the straight side (1) is a strip (8) parallel to the bent edge (6), the bent strip (8) and the bent edge (6) forming between them an insertion slot for the edge of the panel. <IMAGE>
