The patent application relates to a hand-held sporting appliance, especially a tennis racquet, the grip having a porous surface. The invention resides in the fact that the grip is designed as a hollow body from the outer surface of which, which surface is in contact with the hand, numerous holes are provided extending into the inner space, and in the fact that a hygroscopic compound is arranged in the inner space. An essential advantage achieved is that the sweat of the hand diffuses through the holes present in the grip into the hygroscopic compound, i.e. is rapidly transported away from the interface between the hand and the surface of the grip. A highly secure grip is thus obtained.
