The invention relates to a draw-off device with a draw-off roller arranged below the needle beds and at least one counterpressure roller assigned to the draw-off roller, which form between them a gap which can be widened by displacement of at least one of the rollers, as well as a draw-off comb, which can be raised through the widened gap, for drawing off the knitted-fabric beginning. In order to make possible a gentle drawing-off of the knitted-fabric beginning while avoiding the knitting of one or more netting stitch rows, the draw-off roller is according to the invention assigned two counterpressure rollers which are pivotable about a common axis which runs at the level of the axis of the draw-off rollers and parallel thereto and which are arranged at the same spacing from their pivot axis on in each case one lever above or below the draw-off roller axis; the pivot levers are pivotable from a position in which the draw-off rollers make contact with the counterpressure rollers into a position in which they are offset by 180@ in relation to one another, as a result of which the comb can be transferred into its upper position, in which a wire can be introduced into the needles of the comb which are provided with eyes. <IMAGE>
