The apparatus makes possible a play of colours with the colours of the visible (light, optical) spectrum and with "white". Changing from one colour to another colour can be performed continuously by means of an electronic control, in any sequence, at any speed, and with freely selectable intensity. As a result of its compact, light, and low-reaction construction, this apparatus can be used as basic element for different illuminating bodies. With the aid of the primary colours RED, GREEN, and BLUE, three light sources which can be dimmed independently of each other produce this function in a light source arrangement in accordance with subclaim 2 or 3. The lights of the light sources (2, 12, 18) is focused by the reflectors (1, 6, 19) and guided through the heat-absorbing filters (3, 7, 17). The design according to subclaim 3 has a light source arrangement having a total of only five colour filter items (see also Fig. 1). The colour filters 16 (RED, see also Fig. 2), 8 (GREEN, see also Fig. 3) and 4 (BLUE, see also Fig. 4) assign the light sources their primary colours (15 = RED, 13 = GREEN, 5 = BLUE). Two colour-splitting mirros 9 (reflecting RED, see also Fig. 5) and 10 (reflecting BLUE, see also Fig. 6) are perpendicular with respect to each other, the three partial beams meet there in each case at an angle of 45@. The design according to subclaim 2 has a light source arrangement having a total of only two colour-splitting mirror items. In this case, the colour filters 16, 8 and 4 can be saved (compare Fig. 1).
