A central mixed water preparation device has a connection to the cold water supply mains, a heater for producing hot water, a temperature-controlled mixing valve device and a recirculating unit having return lines for returning mixed water into the heater and into a mixing chamber of the mixing valve device or into the cold water feed line, the return of mixed water being influenced by a control element. Provision is made in the central mixed water preparation device of a double control element which acts on the recirculating unit as a function of an input variable h in order to improve the stationary and dynamic temperature response of the mixed water preparation device to the recirculating unit, and thereby influences the volumetric flows in the return lines to the heater as well as to the mixing chamber or cold water feed line. The input variable h is either the position q of the sealing piece of the mixing valve device, or the temperature TM in the mixing valve device, or the temperature TA of the mixed water at a tapping point, or the temperature TR of the mixed water in the recirculating unit.
