The invention describes a strap fastener 15 for a strap 10 which forms a loop 11 at the end, for example on a camera or binoculars. The strap fastener 15 comprises a slide member 17 and buckle 16 which can be connected to one another with the end 30 of the strap being clamped. In addition to a plurality of webs (20-23), said buckle 16 has a pin-like hook 24 for fixing the end 30 of the strap inside the fastener 15. Longitudinal adjustment of the strap 10 or its loop 11 takes place by pulling hard on the strap 10. In doing so, the end 30 of the strap remains inside the fastener 15 with the clamping being maintained between the slide member 17 and the buckle 16. <IMAGE>
