A wheel brake cylinder (2) of an internal shoe brake (1) has two pressure pistons (4 and 5) in its chamber (3). These pistons are connected via extensions (4', 5') to the brake shoes (6, 7). The wheel brake cylinder (2) has a holding branch (9), in the chamber (10) of which a sliding piston (11) is displaceably arranged. When the said sliding piston is acted upon by a cam (13) in the direction of arrow (b), the pressure pistons (4, 5) are displaced outwards by the oil in the cylinder chamber (3) and chamber (10) and the brake shoes (6, 7) are thereby pivoted radially outwards. <IMAGE>
