A Cr-Al-Fe alloy containing 10-61 wt. NoAbstract Cr, 6-25 Al and 0.001-1.0 additives which extend the work life of the alloy is formed into this strip by quenching directly onto a cooled surface which is moving at such a speed as to ensure the production of a strip of 10-60 micron thick. The cooling speed is sufficiently high to ensure sufficient ductility in the final product which enables the strip to be deformed. USE/ADVANTAGE - A support material for catalyst, e.g. in exhausts of motor vehicles. The strip is ductile enough to allow a narrow bending radius and despite is small thickness a high temperature corrosion resistant Al2O3 coating is formed over the whole surface during heat treatment in air.
