In order to separate off in the most inexpensive manner possible the same volatile component from two mixture streams arising at a comparable rate and having compositions deviating from one another without mixing together the returning product streams resulting from the two mixture streams, - the column is provided with mixture inlets (3; 4) arranged above an upper (2b) and a lower (2c) feed tray, - viewed in the direction towards the bottom of the column (1), from the tray (2b) which is directly above the lower feed tray (2c), the downcomers (5b, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5f) which are provided in the trays (2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f) for the reflux are each conducted sealed through the next tray down and open out above the tray after this and - an offtake (6) for a product leads away from the bottom space of the column (1) and a second offtake (7) for a second product leads away via a tray (2e, 2g) of the column (1), above which tray a downcomer (5c, 5e) for the second product opens out. <IMAGE>
