PURPOSE:To provide proper and individual control of applying voltage, applying time, etc. for each heating element, by mounting a means for storing random information concerning a head and a means for outputting the stored information according to an external command onto a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A read only memory (ROM) 22 in a thermal head 21 contains information concerning the thermal head. According to a head information read-out signal fed from a CPU 26, a control section 23 reads out the head information from the ROM 22 and controls an areal output section 24 such that the head information read out from the ROM 22 is outputted to the CPU 26. A memory/output section 11 is constructed with said ROM 22, control section 23 and output section 24. On the basis of the head information, the CPU 26 determines optimal applying power conditions according to a stored program and transmits said conditions to an applying voltage control section 27 which drives a thermal head drive section 28 according to said conditions and heats the heating elements on the thermal head thus performing printing. |
