<p>A banknote stacker (200) for stacking banknotes which have been validated by a banknote validator (100). A banknote is directed to a prestorage compartment (400). During a pusher cycle, a pusher plate (540) drives the banknote from the prestorage compartment (400) into a banknote storage magazine (600) and then the pusher plate (540) returns to its original position. Just prior to the pusher cycle, rollers (304) are retracted to release the banknote. The pusher plate (540) prevents banknote slippage, and is preferably driven so as to ensure that a pusher cycle will follow shortly after the retraction of the rollers (304).</p> |
