PURPOSE:To attain full-duplex communication through one core of an optical fiber cable by doubling a transmission speed (line bit rate) on the optical fiber calbe than a signal transmission speed and sending alternately both the signals on time division basis. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmission section 1 of an optical PCM terminal station 5 in a system A converts an electric signal into an optical signal, consecutive optical signals are stored tentatively in an optical buffer memory 6, read from the memory at a speed of twice or more, converted into a burst optical signal and sent through the optical cable. The optical signal is one stored in the optical buffer memory 6 at an optical PCM terminal station 5 of a system B, read as consecutive optical signals and received by an optical reception section 2. On the other hand, the optical PCM terminal station of the system B uses and optical transmission section 1 to convert an electric signal into an optical signal and convert it into the burst optical signal and sends it through the optical fiber while utilizing the idle time of the burst optical signal sent from the A to the B. The optical signal is stored in the buffer 6 of the system A and read as the consecutive optical signals and received by the optical reception section 2. |
