The invention relates to insulation for tanks, in particular large-capacity tanks, in the case of which preformed insulating bodies 2, which consist of rigid foamed plastic and are in the form of elongate panels, are positioned around the tank, butting against the latter, and are connected to one another with their profiled longitudinal narrow sides overlapping. In order to control the high suction forces which occur as a result of wind pressure when large-capacity tanks are set up in the open, provision is made for reinforcements 5 to be embedded, preferably foamed in place, in the insulating bodies 2 in a manner in which they are located transversely to the longitudinal narrow sides of the latter, said reinforcements having one end terminating in the region of the outer longitudinal broad side and having the other end terminating at the associated region which is overlapped by the outer longitudinal broad side of the adjacent insulating body 2, and for the ends of the reinforcements 5 of the insulating bodies 2 which are overlapped in this manner to be held together by connecting elements 10, preferably to have the latter passing through them. <IMAGE> |
