The seal has a counter ring (2) and a shaft (O) forming a unit (11), which is made of a hardened steel. The counter ring comprises a sealing surface (12) that sealingly and flexibly lies in an axial direction, and affecting another sealing surface (13) of a slide ring (1). The sealing surface (12) comprises a roughness depth from 0.1 to 0.3.
