PURPOSE:To produce rust preventive cellophane having great rust preventive effects and excellent transparency, by coagulating and regenerating a raw material for cellophane, desulfurizing the resultant gel cellophane, washing the desulfurized cellophane with water, dipping the washed cellophane in an aqueous solution containing a rust preventive agent and drying the obtained film. CONSTITUTION:Dissolving pulp is treated with caustic soda and carbon disulfide to form viscose, which is then passed through a slit nozzle, coagulated with sulfuric acid and sodium sulfate and treated with sulfuric acid to produce gel cellophane. The resultant gel cellophane is desulfurized, washed with water and then dipped in an aqueous solution containing a weak alkaline rust preventive agent to impregnate the rust preventing agent into the gel cellophane and the resultant cellophane is dried to produce the aimed rust preventive cellophane. The amount of the impregnated rust preventing agent can be optionally adjusted by changing concentration, temperature, dipping time, etc., of the aqueous solution in impregnation and the aimed rust preventive cellophane having high impregnation amount of the rust preventive agent is obtained.
