PURPOSE:To achieve a highly reliable recording with a smaller apparatus, by recording physical quantity on a recording paper with a plurality of recording elements arranged linearly in the direction almost orthogonal to the scanning of the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:An electrical signal corresponding to physical quantity is inputted into a contact selection circuit 3 through a servo amplifier 2. The contact selection circuit 3 selectively closes any of contacts S1-S8... according to the size of the electrical signal inputted. Heating elements of a heating resistor 6 are connected in series to the contacts S1-S8... respectively to thermally record physical quantity on a thermal recording paper 7 being subjected to a subscanning.
