NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R<1> is alkyl, haloalkyl or phenyl; R<2> and R<3> are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxyalkyl; R<4> is heteroaromatic ring containing O, N or S). EXAMPLE:alpha-(1,3-Dimethylpyrazol-4-ylcarbonylamino)-(2-thienyl)aceto nitrile. USE:A fungicide for agriculatural and horticultural use. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with an aminoacetonitrile of formula III or its salt in an inert solvent at 0-5 deg.C for 0.5-4hr. When an aminoacetonitrile salt is used as the starting compound, a base necessary for neutralizing the compound (e.g. pyridine can be used also as a reaction solvent) is added to the reaction system.
