Sweetening agents of general formula: in which, in a preferred embodiment, X3 and X5 are CH3, CF3 or a halogen, X4 is H, CN or F; in which A is N or C; in which R1 is, in a preferred embodiment, H or CH3; in which R2 is a hydrocarbon group containing 2 to 13 carbon atoms, in which up to 4 carbon atoms may be replaced by nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur, chlorine, bromine and iodine atoms and up to 5 hydrogen atoms by fluorine atoms; in which, in a preferred embodiment, R3 and R4 are H.
