PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid acid which offers high activity performance, an olefin polymerization catalyst, and a production method of an olefin polymer using the same.SOLUTION: Provided are a solid acid having Lewis acid sites to which pyridine is adsorbed at 500°C or more in an amount of 45 μmol or more per 1 g of solid acid, and a production method using an olefin polymerization catalyst containing the solid acid. Also provided are: the solid acid in which the solid acid is an ion-exchanging laminar silicate; the solid acid in which the ion-exchanging laminar silicate has a total of pore volume of pores having a diameter of 2 to 10 nm calculated in a pore distribution curve calculated by a BJH analysis by using an adsorption isotherm by a nitrogen adsorption method is 60 to 100% relative to the total volume of mesopores; and a production method using an olefin polymerization catalyst containing the solid acid.SELECTED DRAWING: None
