The invention relates to the cross-sectional configuration of metal spacers (1) which can be stacked one on the other and are intended for panes of laminated insulating glass, as are described, for example, in DE Patent Specification 2929544 or in DE Patent Specification 3337058. In order to avoid the formation of fretting corrosion and to permit the thermal degreasing of all profile regions, the invention makes provision for the formation, on the oblique surfaces (9) of the trapezoidal hollow profile region (2), of specially designed supporting surfaces (15) for supporting the rounded-off end surfaces (13) of the fork-shaped legs (11). The dimensioning is to be such that there results, from the visible surface (8) and the inner wall (6) of spacers (1) which can be stacked one on the other, a clear gap (14), of desired width (c), which, on the one hand, prevents the walls (5, 6) from making contact and, on the other hand, does not cause any capillary effect. <IMAGE>
