The centrifugal water pump includes a pump runner (1) and a casing (3) enclosing an outlet port (5), to form a volute chamber around the runner. A deflecting wall (11) causes a flux returning along an inner wall surface of the valute chamber toward the outlet port to be deflected, avoiding production of a countercurrent velocity component in the water. The deflecting wall extends normal to the flow direction of the flow flux. The deflecting wall can be of tubular form, located on a front or rear shroud in the vicinity of an end face on the outlet port side.
