A sliding roof (5) for multi-purpose passenger cars, especially an estate car with a rear door (1) which accommodates a lowerable rear screen (2) and is articulated with two arms (3, 4) serving as a guide frame for the rear screen (2) on the upper rear end regions of the vehicle body, while the sliding roof (5) in its closed condition lies against the closed rear screen (2), characterised in that the sliding roof (5) has a surrounding sealing strip (6) having a first, upper sealing face (6b) for the sealing zone between the roof (7) of the vehicle body and the sliding roof (5) and a second lateral sealing face (6d) for the sealing zone between the upper edge (2a) of the rear screen (2) and the sliding roof (5), and in that the rear sliding roof section possesses a transversely-extending water guide.
