The invention relates to a process and a device for producing a sheet from bitumen, polymer bitumen, plastic or the like for covering surfaces of buildings, which sheet is provided with a continuous profiling on at least one of its sides and has in the region of one of its edges a profile-free edge strip running in its longitudinal direction. To provide a sealing sheet of the type mentioned at the outset, which makes possible, in a simple and rapid manner, the provision of a profile-free transverse strip or a plurality of profile-free transfer strips on that side of the sealing sheet provided with a profiling, preferably in its one end region, it is proposed according to the process that, preferably during the continuous production of the sheet, the introduction of the profiling undergoes an interruption to provide profile-free transverse strips. To achieve this object, it is proposed according to the device that the roll (1) provided with the profiling is equipped with a profile-free strip (4) running in the direction of its longitudinal axis. It is further proposed that the profiling roll (1) has assigned to it a cover strip (5) extending in the direction of its longitudinal axis and at a distance from the latter, which cover strip (5) can be placed on the surface of the profiling roll (1) and be coupled to the latter in its rotary movement. <IMAGE>
