Fluids-solids contact appts. includes an enclosed outer vessel having an imperforate centre pipe and spaced-apart layers of fluid distributor pans in the form of flat rings extending about the centrepipe. Annula fluid distribution rings are mounted on the centre pipe intermediate the spaced-apart layers. Fluid distribution pipes extend between a fluid distributor pan and an annular fluid distribution ring. Fluid transfer conduits each extend between an annular fluid distribution ring and a point outside the vessel. This is used for contacting a floing liq. stream with a solid adsorbent or adsorbent, as in an adsorptive sepn. process in petroleum, chemical and petrochemical industries, and in the sepn. of water soluble natural substances, such as fructoseanad glucose.
