Two micro-strips (1,8) of quartz, a wave-length long and a frequency of 10 Ghz have their earth plane (7) on the under side of a substrate (6). The micro-strips and one further conductor (2) are super-conductors, whilst the earth plane is of normal metal. The second micro-strip (8) is seven times thicker than the penetration depth of current in the super-conductor. Currents in the earth plane of the third conductor (2) are insulated from those in the second micro-strip except along an edge (9). - The third conductor or micro-strip is also of quartz and wave-length long, consists of the top side of the second micro-strip, a dielectric (4) and the strip itself. It is connected at its end partly to the first strip, and partly to a Josephson (RTM) oscillator (5) on top of the substrate. Contacts provide only DC contact with the oscillator, and the dielectric is only one thousandth of the thickness of the substrate. Thus, the first micro-strip, because of its size, be connected to a standard size coaxial conductor (10). |
